Reading is a way to improve your memory and boost your mood. For children reading for fun improves  a child brain but reading for “compulsive reading is a foolish and harmful abuse of an otherwise good thing, truly a great evil, as contagious as the yellow fever in Philadelphia.”   More finding that reading special book like literary fiction enhances the ability to detect and understand other people's emotions (empathy), a crucial skill in navigating complex social relationships.
